MASSACHUSETTS SOFTWARE COUNCIL NAMES eSCRIPTION CEO PAUL EGERMAN NEW CHAIRMAN
Council Membership Elects Four New Trustees at 2004 Annual Membership Meeting
Boston, MA – January 15, 2004 – The Massachusetts Software Council
announced at its 2004 annual meeting that Paul Egerman, chief executive officer of eScription, has
been appointed as Chairman of the Council's Board of Trustees. Egerman will serve as Chairman for two years.
A software executive with broad-ranging experience as a successful entrepreneur and as a software developer
for ambulatory health care environments, Egerman currently serves as the CEO of eScription, Inc., a Needham-
based medical speech recognition company. He previously co-founded IDX Systems Corporation, a health care
information system company with over 3,000 employees. Egerman was named Inc Magazine's "Entrepreneur of the
Year" in 1991.
An MIT graduate, Egerman has a strong interest in supporting the advancement of computers and technology in education.
Egerman, who is involved with a number of community organizations, is a vice-chairman of the Museum of Science.
In addition to the announcement of Egerman as Chairman, the Council also announced the appointment of George Bell,
president and chief executive officer of Upromise, as vice chair; Kija Kim, president of Harvard Design & Mapping, as
secretary; and Jim Daniell, president of Integrated Fuel Cell Technologies, as treasurer.
Landry delivered his predictions for the year's hottest technologies, including storage, wireless
networks, standards and tools. "It will be a big year for technology in some unexpected sectors,
including the overhauls of the PC."
The Council Elects Four New Trustees
Also at its Annual Meeting, the Massachusetts Software Council's membership elected four new board
members to serve on its Board of Trustees.
The new board members are Lynda M. Applegate, the Henry R. Byers professor of business administration
at Harvard Business School; Eileen M. Rudden, vice president and general manager of Avaya, Inc.; Shirely
Singleton, president and chief executive officer of Edgewater Technology; and Jeff Taylor, founder Monster
Worldwide, Inc. The new board members will bring a broad range of talent and skill sets to their newly elected
positions.
