In September of 2002, the Council was awarded a three month planning
grant from Commonwealth Corp, a quasi public agency, to examine whether
there are increased needs for skilled IT professionals to work in
Massachusetts industries that are based in science and health care.
Massachusetts has a strong presence in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals,
medical device manufacturing, hospitals and healthcare and the question
to be examined is whether these companies having growing IT needs.
The Council's study will define Bio-IT, describe the jobs that exist
at the intersection of science and information technology and determine
whether this is a growth area for Information technology and software
professionals, at all levels. Results of the study will be released
in January of 2003. |
