Boston University Student Design Program
The Council created the Boston University Student Design Program in
1996, in honor of its tenth anniversary. So successful that Boston
University made it a part of its design curriculum, the program gives
member companies the opportunity to utilize talented, dynamic, graphic
design students on a wide range of visual communications projects.
Typical projects include new logos, web design and collateral materials.
Participating students have the chance to gain real-world professional
experience and get a first-hand look at the challenges and constraints
they will encounter as they enter the workforce. Participating companies
benefit from the opportunity to draw upon a pool of creative talent
with skills in the most up-to-date graphic technologies.
The project typically runs from January through April each year,
with Student/company projects displayed at one of the Council’s
major programs. Upon completion of their program, students are often
hired by participating companies or by other software companies
that have seen their work.
Interested companies may contact the Council at info@masoftware.org
to register for the program.
Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI)
The Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI),is a comprehensive,
system-wide plan for improving technology in public higher education.
CITI is designed to upgrade IT curriculum, improve professional
development opportunities, and encourage regional collaboration
among community colleges, state colleges and the UMass system. In
addition, CITI has created an IT minor that can be paired with any
major – an innovative program that will better prepare our
home-grown workers for jobs in both IT and non-IT companies.
The Council has been vocal and proactive in rallying widespread
support in the technology community for the full implementation
of CITI . We are also working with the public higher education system
and with state government to develop partnerships and innovative
funding streams to maximize the opportunities CITI offers.
If you would like additional information about CITI, please contact
CITI Executive Director Brenda Philips at bphilips@ecs.umass.edu.
